Breaking News:
Here at Lakeview Local School District we are rolling out and launching our new K-12 virtual school that is going to be exclusively online. As part of this webpage you will see the A.U.P., a list to parents of the devices needed, an outline of what a semester would look like (math grade 7), a lined discussion of a sampling of three students, which will show how we are going to continue to get feedback to make our virtual school the best, and a working sample lesson of an Asynchronous Project-Based Learning Module, which will occur at the end of the semester in math for 7th grade.

Let us take a look at some of the great benefits in being a part of our K-12 virtual school. For starters, students will be able to work at their own pace to reduce the stress and anxiety levels that our students face. there will be a pre-assessment from Study Island at the beginning of each module to determine what prerequisite skills are mastered and what prerequisite skills need to be refined. All modules are taught to the common core standards, and the grade level skills and concepts will be taught throughout each module. The differentiated instruction comes into play by determining what skills from previous grade levels need to be re-taught while students are learning their grade level concepts. This will ensure that students are maximizing these rare learning opportunities.
Other benefits would include the instructors being available through email, Edmodo, and VoiceThread if the students would ever need to contact their instructor. There are plenty of collaborative activities such as using Google Hangouts, Google Documents, VoiceThreads, and Edmodo.
There is plenty of assistive and adaptive technology available to support a variety of different learning style. For example, VoiceThreads would support the visual and auditory learners. The projects at the end of each nine weeks would support the tactile and bodily kinesthetic learners. All types of learners will benefit from our virtual classroom.
There should not be a problem with troubleshooting anything that could potentially go wrong because we are using Edmodo, Google applications, and VoiceThreads for the majority of the instruction and as long as the internet is working these are easy to troubleshoot if anything would potentially go wrong.
There are plenty of digital tools that we will be using such as Google Hangouts, Google Documents, VoiceThreads, WeVideo, and Edmodo.
All of the content will be predicated from grade level standards and we will incorporate creative projects to make this as original as possible. Our goal is to take the standards and teach our students the skills and concepts from the standards. Then, have the students use these skills and concepts to apply them to real world situations. This is ultimately what will make them successful young adults and productive members of society.
